Christmas Time!

Yup, it's that time of the year again - the time that half of us go 'Yo ho ho' and the other half go 'bah, humbug'. I'm currently in the latter camp although I kinda switch between the two.

We've really got a lot on this Christmas. We've got some Christmas gifts to give out to a Mum's and tot's, which we're all looking forward to. A lot of the families in Thurnscoe don't always have all the support that they should, and there are some Mums (and Dads!) who are doing some amazing jobs no matter what life is throwing at them, so we decided this Christmas to be part of their solution and not part of their problem. So we're going to be giving them some Chistmas goody bags - I know that there are going to be some happy children in a weeks' time!

And apparently, Father Christmas may be making a guest appearance too!

Look out for it, December the 7th.

God Bless,
-Matt K.

  1. March 23rd 2010 We have just had a team from Mattersey Bible College working with us for a week in the village. What a great bunch of people and what a wonderful time we had. The Houghton Road Community Centre where we meet on Sundays at 10.30am got a fresh coat of paint on the outside and a spring clean inside. We visited elderly residents in a local home and gave them two afternoons of pampering. We massaged hands and put nail varnish on and sang and danced for them. The whole team did some litter picking around the centre and the park entrance and we all enjoyed fabulous meals at the Rendevous Cafe in Thurnscoe! Great food and great staff! Every morning we spent two hours together in prayer and tried different suggestions for meditation which were interesting and encouraging. All in all a wonderful week in which worship was expressed in lives lived in joy and service.

  2. Today I met with the local police and gave them the hamper of Easter goodies the members have been collecting over the past few weeks. I thanked them on behalf of us all for the great job they do keeping us safe in the area. We had a good discussion about the needs of Thurnscoe and I hope to keep in touch once I graduate in June. The sunshine was warm today. Could Spring really be waking up? Lent is soon coming to an end as we approach Good Friday. Come and join us at Houghton Road Centre on God Friday at 3.00pm for a thought provoking time together. See you there.
